Widden Stud sire Snippetson boosted his strike-rate on Sunday with four maiden winners in three States.
Snippetson’s winners were Rose Of Tessie (Sunshine Coast), Baradin (Launceston), Snip ‘N’ Away (Grafton) and Cullerin (Canberra).
They increased his seasonal stats to 45 winners of 60 races. Top of the dial is the Gai Waterhouse trained gelding Fast Clip. He won the G2 Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill in April and is being set for a spring campaign in Melbourne.
Sunday’s quartet demonstrates that Snippetson has been popular with studmasters around the country.
Rose Of Tessie was bred by Basil Nolan (Raheen Stud), Baradin by Graham McCulloch (Grenville Stud), Snip ‘N’ Away by Phil Greenwood (Glenmore Park) and Cullerin by Kerry Adamson (Elizabeth Park).
Snippetson (Snippets) was a $550,000 graduate of the 2003 Gold Coast Magic Millions when offered by Stratheden Stud. He was a Listed winner of the Eskimo Prince Hcp and Maurice McCarten Stakes and was also runner-up in the G2 Challenge Stakes and G3 Missile Stakes before retiring to Widden in 2006.
Snippetson is a younger brother to Snowland who retired to Widden in 2003 and sired G1 winner Absolut Glam in his first crop.
Low fertility cut short his commercial prospects but Snippetson has no problems on that score with a fertility count averaging 90%.
Snippetson will stand for a $7,700 fee at Widden this year.
