Snitzels running Hot

Snitzel reduced the gap on his Arrowfield Stud associate Not A Single Doubt at the top of the Australian 2YO Table after Hot Snitzel won on debut at Rosehill on Saturday.

Hot Snitzel (2c Snitzel – Flames Of Paris by Blushing Groom) scored an all-the-way victory in the Rosehill Gardens Events Centre Hcp (1100m).  He spaced the placegetters Out Of The Shadow (Dane Shadow) and Golden Feima (Elvstroem) by more than five lengths.

Not A Single Doubt’s juveniles have earned $313,500 so far this season, well ahead of Snitzel ($223,900) but that could change dramatically next Saturday if Hot Snitzel butters up in the $250,000 Inglis Nursery at Randwick.

Snitzel filly Chance Bye won the Inglis Nursery last year.  “Hot Snitzel is tough but has a lot to learn,” trainer Gerald Ryan said.  “I might back him up next week and then give him a break.”

Hot Snitzel is from a half-sister to G1 Irish Moyglare Stakes winner Park Appeal (Ahonoora).  She is the dam of G1 racehorse and sire Cape Cross (Green Desert) and the second dam of boom sire Iffraaj (Zafonic).

Ryan has an affinity with Snitzel after guiding him to a G1 victory in the MRC Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield.  He has already trained Snitzel filly Saramenha to consecutive Rosehill wins this season and she won them by a combined margin of 10 lengths.

He prepares Saramenha for a Darby Bloodstock syndicate and Hot Snitzel races for a Triple Crown Syndicate.  “We’re having a bit of luck with the Snitzels” Ryan said.  “They’re a tough breed and they can run.”

Ryan has over a dozen Snitzels on the books and, apart from Hot Snitzel and Saramenha, he also trains Schiffer who was runner-up to brilliant filly Karuta Queen in the Wyong Magic Millions on December 5.

Karuta Queen is by Not A Single Doubt and she won’t start again until the $2 Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast next month.

Snitzel and Not A Single Doubt both stand alongside their breed-shaping sire Redoute’s Choice at Arrowfield.  Snitzel stands for 27,500 and Not A Single Doubt for $13,750.

Snitzel has sired 33 individual winners to date.  There are 21 winners from his first crop plus Saramenha and Hot Snitzel from his second.  He has also sired 10 juvenile winners this year from a one-off reverse shuttle to Shadai Stud in 2007.
