Champion filly Snow Fairy is being trained for a tilt at the G1 Dubai World Cup at Meydan on March 26. Trainer Ed Dunlop isn’t in any rush to confirm future plans but he favours a trip to the Gulf.
“She will tell us whether she will be ready in time and we will see how things progress,” Dunlop said. “She enjoyed her winter holiday and we will build up her work-schedule slowly during February.”
Snow Fairy (4f Intikhab – Woodland Dream by Charnwood Forest) produced a fairytale finish to her 2010 campaign with a brilliant turn of foot to win in the G1 Hong Kong Cup last month. She had won the English – Irish Oaks double in June – July and added the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Kyoto on her way to Hong Kong.
Snow Fairy is raced by owner-breeder Cristina Patino under the banner of Windflower Overseas Holdings. The filly was catalogued for the 2008 Tattersalls Ireland December Sale but was passed-in when bidding stopped at 1,800 euros!
Her sire Intikhab is a son of Red Ransom (Roberto) and her dam Woodland Dream is a winning half-sister to successful young sire Big Bad Bob who was a stakes winner at Ascot, Deauville and Baden-Baden.
Dunlop has no worries about Snow Fairy handling the Tapeta surface at Meydan as she won on Lingfield’s Polytrack as a two-year-old.
