Snowdrift heads Day 2 leader-board at Inglis Broodmare Sale

Group 1 producer Snowdrift topped Day 2 of the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale when she was sold for $775,000 to bloodstock agent Kieran Moore on Wednesday.   The 16 year-old French bred mare was offered by Tyreel Stud in foal to Red Ransom.

Snowdrift is the dam of Group 1 winner Snowland, Golden Slipper placegetter Portillo and Widden Stud’s stakes winning sire Snippetson.  Her latest foal is a yearling filly by Redoute’s Choice.

Tyreel Stud has also sold Danehill stakes performer Lucida ($750,000) and Group 2 Wakeful Stakes winner Quays ($490,000) at this week’s sale.

Other top selling mares on Wednesday included Soul Singer, in foal to Charge Forward carrying a full-relation to star two-year-old Solar Charged, picked up by Coolmore Stud for $550,000.

“There was great competition for proven producers and quality fillies straight off the track which demonstrates good market confidence,” said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.  “On the other side of the equation this sale has a proven track record for rewarding buyers with smaller budgets who take a chance on pedigrees upgrading.

“Wednesday’s clearance rate of 78% bodes well moving into the final two days of the sale on Thursday and Friday.”
