Moment In Change is the latest feature winner to emerge from the Perth Magic Millions. Winning the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on Sunday also credited his sire Barely A Moment with a Group 1 first.
Moment In Change (4g Barely A Moment – Europium by Metal Storm) was bred and sold in Western Australia. Sovereign Stud owner Tracey Knotts put him through the 2010 Magic Millions and received $50,000 from Slade Bloodstock.
“That was a super win,” trainer Peter Moody said. “It’s no secret I hold him in very regard. He’s just been dogged by a bit of bad luck. It was nice to see him get that Group 1 out of the way.”
Moody signalled a start in the Toorak Hcp against champion Sydney mare More Joyous is next on the agenda for Moment Of Change. He becomes the first Group 1 winner for Cornerstone Stud’s Barely A Moment who was himself a Perth Magic Millions graduate through De Grey Stud.
His dam Europium has a yearling filly by Blackfriars and she foaled a sister to the Sir Rupert Clarke winner on September 2.
Barely A Moment (Gilded Time) was top-class at two winning the 2004 G1 Victorian Sires’ Produce Stakes. He was runner-up in the Ascot Vale, Caulfield Guineas and Sandown Guineas at three then came back the following spring to win the Group 1 Toorak Hcp – Dubai Cup double at Caulfield.
