Greta West Stud sire Keep The Faith has another black-type winner in waiting with cross-continent trainer Tony Noonan.
His Perth based filly Split The Faith was too classy for her rivals in the David Evans Hcp (1400m) at Belmont on Wednesday. It was her third win since claiming a Bunbury maiden on debut in January.
Connections were initially hoping to get Split The Faith ready for the Listed Belmont Oaks over 2000 metres. “Unfortunately, the Oaks is less than three weeks away and we’ve run out of time,” stable foreman Nick Cox said. “But I reckon she has the scope to eventually get over that sort of ground.”
Split The Faith (3f Keep The Faith – Split Rock by Danehill) was rated perfectly in front by Shaun Meeres and had enough in hand to deny It’s Only Love (Diatribe) and Friars Spirit (Blackfriars). “She had a fitness edge after a second-up run last week,” Cox said. “She’s a tough filly and we had no problems backing her up within seven days.”
Split The Faith was bred by De Grey Stud’s Dick Vincent and descends from G1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Midnight Fever (Luskin Star). She failed to reach a $30,000 reserve at the 2010 Perth Magic Millions and now races for a syndicate that includes Neven Botica.
Vincent sent Split Rock to Yarradale Stud last year where she was served by Galileo stakes winner Discorsi.
Keep The Faith sired the stakes winning fillies Lucky Penny and Dinkum Diamond at Morphettville in May and there’s been another four winners so far this week plus talented trialists Fear The Faith and Wicked Secrets.
Bill Bogarts trains Fear The Faith for owner Ken Fowler and he is ready to resume after winning an Adelaide hit-out on Monday. A Balaklava and Morphettville winner before going out for a 28 week spell, he was a $52,000 buy from Greta West Stud at the 2010 Adelaide Magic Millions.
Keep The Faith filly Wicked Secrets also won at the Adelaide trials on Monday morning. She is an unraced half sister to LR Malaysian Magic Millions Classic winner Good Baby (Hussonet) and trainer David Jolly has nominated her to debut at Strathalbyn on Wednesday, June 27.
Keep The Faith (Sunday Silence) will stand for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee at Greta West Stud in 2012.
