Spurtastic gave his connections plenty to cheer about with a runaway win in the $100,000 Magic Millions Rockhampton 2YO Classic (1200m) on Thursday. He scored by three lengths from Aquatorial (Oratorio) and Trump (Written Tycoon).
Spurtastic was ridden by Jim Byrne for Peachester Lodge conditioner Col Williamson. “He’s the best horse I’ve trained,” Williamson claimed. “I’ve got a really good opinion of him and I think he’s going to make into a really nice three-year-old.”
Williamson will wait and see how Spurtastic pulls up before deciding on his immediate future but his long-term goal is the $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy at the Gold Coast.
Spurtastic (2g Flying Spur – Brief Embrace by Irgun) has won two of his five starts carrying the familiar Shoot Out silks of owners Linda and Graham Huddy.
