Not A Single Doubt has thrown his hat in the ring for a Group 1 first this month. The Arrowfield stallion has already sired 9 stakes performers with just two crops to race.
Not A Single Doubt colt Squamosa extended his unbeaten run in the G3 Run to the Rose on Saturday and he will be one of the favourites for the G1 Golden Rose in a fortnight at Rosehill.
Squamosa (3g Not a Single Doubt – Class Success by Success Express) kicked clear with a furlong to run and held out the previously unbeaten Masquerader to win by a half length on Saturday. “He is a terrific horse and he keeps improving,” trainer Gai Waterhouse said. “He has speed from the gate and then a second turn of foot up the straight.”
Waterhouse will have a strong line-up in the first Group 1 of the season with Squamosa being joined by Brightexpectations and More Strawberries in the $1 million Golden Rose on August 28.
Squamosa, a graduate of Arrowfield Stud, was purchased by Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds for $140,000 at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He’s already earned over $171,000 for his Malaysian based connections.
Squamosa is a half brother to stablemate Flying Success who won races at Gosford and Warwick Farm earlier this year. Their dam Class Success was a Listed winner at Ellerslie and Avondale and she added another at Moonee Valley.
Not A Single Doubt stands alongside his own sire Redoute’s Choice at Arrowfield and is available at a $13,750 (inc gst) service fee this year.
