Stardom Stakes trifecta for Dubawi

Darley sire Dubawi continued his relentless rise towards the top of the stallion ranks when Titus Mills won the Listed Stardom Stakes (1400m) at Goodwood on Tuesday.  He became the fourth individual juvenile stakes winner from Dubawi’s second European crop.

Titus Mills (2c Dubawi — Anayid by A.P. Indy) led home a Dubawi trifecta at the Sussex circuit when he defeated Big Issue and Surrey Star.  He is trained by Brian Meehan at Manton for the Sangster Family and had won on debut at Ascot in July.  He was a 65,000 euros buy at the 2009 Goffs Orby yearling sale.

Titus Mills is a half-brother to the juvenile winners Sand Tiger (Indian Ridge) and Mirabella (Motivator).  Second dam Aqaarid was raced by Sheikh Hamdan to a G1 victory in the 1994 Fillies Mile at Ascot.

Dubawi had already inked in black-type juvenile wins this year with Irish Field (Prix Robert Papin), Nova Step (Criterium de l’Ouest) and Khor Sheed (Empress Stakes).

His first crop has yielded G1 winner Makfi (English 2,000 Guineas & Prix Jacques le Marois) and G2 winners Monterosso, Poet’s Voice, Sand Vixen and Worthadd.

Makfi has been purchased by Qatar’s al Thani family and will continue the Dubai Millennium – Dubawi sireline at Tweenhills Stud in England next year.  He has won four from five including the G1 English 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and G1 Jacques le Marois at Deauville.
