Stitched Up in Canberra

Progressive stayer Stitched Up cruised home for local co-trainers Keith Dryden and Scott Collings in Canberra on Friday.

The Globetrotter (USA) gelding had won his maiden first-up at Queanbeyan in December and kept improving over a longer trip in the XXXX Gold Plate (2000m).  Ridden a tactical race by Matt Cahill, he loomed up to front-runner Greyfell at the top of the straight and then held Colizani at bay to win by the best part of two lengths.

Stitched Up is the first named foal from Magnifico (Galileo) who is a half-sister to G3 Newcastle & Gosford Cups winner Silent Impact.  Her unraced 3yo Oscar Cranach (Lucas Cranach) is a stablemate of the winner and she foaled an Americain (USA) filly in August.

Singapore-based gelding My Gold started January with a winning gallop for Globetrotter at Kranji on New Year’s Day.  He was a $20,000 buy from the 2016 Adelaide Magic Millions for trainer Alwin Tan and is from a half-sister to G1 Flight Stakes winner Dashing Eagle

My Gold will line up for a running double at Kranji on Sunday and Globetrotter’s Hong Kong-based sprinter Energetic Class has accepted for Sha Tin on Sunday.  He put the writing on the wall with a close-up second at Happy Valley last month.

Globetrotter (Street Cry) stood his first season in WA at Forrest Beach Estate in Capel last year for a $2,500 fee.  For further information, south-west breeders Robbie and Colin Smith can be contacted on 0428 521 166  or  rgnsmith1960@gmail.com
