Storm Burst heads west from Inglis Melbourne August Sale

Buyers snapped up over 300 lots at the Inglis Melbourne August Sale that finished on Friday afternoon.

Day 2 at Oaklands Junction was busy with a strong bench of buyers on the eve of the breeding season and spring carnivals.  “City performed fillies and mares have been secured by breeders throughout Australia and overseas during the past two days,” said Inglis director Peter Heagney.  “And there was another strong session of race geldings and colts to all corners of the region.”

Stakes placed Danehill Dancer mare Storm Burst topped Friday’s offerings when selling to WA based Michael Flannery Bloodstock for $138,000.  Group 3 winning Testa Rossa mare There’s Only One also made it to six figures when purchased by Edinburgh Park in NSW for $100,000.

Darley’s offerings were again well received by buyers who parted with $726,500 for the 34 racehorses offered, resulting in an average price of $21,368.

In all 189 lots were sold on Day 2 at an amazing clearance rate of 96%.  Gross receipts totalled $2.92 million.  That was up on last year’s sale which included the Wadham Park dispersal.
