Strada filly scores at Scone

Charm’s Honour entered the record books as the first winner for Strada in November and she scored again at Scone on Tuesday.

Charm’s Honour (2f  Strada – She’s Got Charm by Bletcharm) won by a neck on debut at Muswellbrook on Melbourne Cup eve but she had more than three lengths to spare in the Book May Accomodation Now Hcp (1100m) this week.

Prepared at Scone by Greg Bennett, Charm’s Honour was retained to race by the Porch family who bred her from Flemington winner She’s Got Charm.  Her second dam is a half-sister to G1 AJC Champagne Stakes winner Quick Star.

Widden stands Strada at a fee of $9,900.  He is a superbly bred son of champion sire of sires Danehill from GI STC Coolmore Classic winner Shindig.
The Noel Mayfield Smith trained filly Aftonland weighed in with another winner for Strada when she saluted at Newcastle last Saturday.

Aftonland (2f Strada – Gom Jabber by Hula Chief) was a $12,000 purchase from the Widden Stud draft at the 2009 Inglis Australian Select weanling sale.  She is a half-sister sister to 8 winners including Hong Hong stakes performer Four Aces (Encosta de Lago).

Their dam Gom Jabber won 6 races after being stakes placed on debut in the Listed AJC Widden Stakes.

Long time Widden Stud client Bill Frost also enjoyed success at Caulfield on Saturday when his lightly raced Anabaa filly Tariana made it two wins in as many starts in the MRC Hayman Island Hcp.

Tariana (3f Anabaa – Gabrieli by Red Ransom) is prepared by Mick Price for the Pendant Equine Syndicate which includes Frost’s wife Pat and daughter Cassandra.
