Street Cry heads Darley roster of 25 stallions

Street Cry will head Darley’s roster of 25 stallions in Australia for the 2010 breeding season.  The sire of Melbourne Cup winner Shocking and Champion USA mare Zenyatta will stand at Kelvinside for a fee of $137,500 (inc. gst).

Not surprisingly, Street Cry’s fee has risen from his 2009 fee of $110,000.  Lonhro is another in-form stallion whose fee has justifiably taken a hike ($33,000 to $88,000).  And Shamardal also rises on the back of his G1 winning filly Faint Perfume ($27,500 to $66,000).

Newcomer Medaglia d’Oro, who has sired four individual G1 winners from just two crops in North America, will also stand at Kelvinside in NSW at $88,000 (inc. gst).  His flag-bearer is 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra.

Von Costa de Hero will stand at Northwood Park in Victoria at $16,500 (inc. gst).  The Encosta de Lago colt was a G2 winner of the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes and he also ran a phenomenal second 2008 Golden Slipper.  Returning at three, he was G1 placed in the Caulfield and Australian Guineas.

“We have an outstanding roster of stallions to offer breeders this year and the achievements of Street Cry, Commands, Lonhro and Shamardal during the past 12 months have been tremendous,” Darley’s Australian Managing Director Henry Plumptre said.

“We are very enthusiastic about the progeny of our younger horses, some of which are appearing for the first time at the forthcoming breeding stock sales.”

Von Costa de Hero will be joined at Northwood Park by promising first-season stallion Domesday.

“Domesday is an exciting young horse who has shown good potential underlined by his two-year-olds this year so we have decided to relocate him to Northwood Park,” lumptre added.  “Some of our best two-year-olds are by him and we will support him with more Darley mares this year.  We look forward to talking with our clients about all our stallions and their mares in the coming weeks.”

“We have two world-class stallion facilities at Aberdeen and Seymour that were developed with our long-term stallion requirements in mind,” Plumptre explained.  “Operationally and commercially it is makes sense to consolidate our stallion operations to these two locations. “
