Peter Moody was in the limelight again on Saturday night when the Magic Millions concluded its fourth and final select yearling session on the Gold Coast.
A Street Sense – Aristocracy colt offered by Highgrove Stud topped Day 4 at $440,000. He was purchased by Hong Kong based Thomas Li and is destined for Moody’s Caulfield stables.
Overall, the four sessions grossed over $62.57 million at an average price of over $124,400 which was down 3% on the 2010 sale.
Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk said he was pleased with how Sessions 1-4 progressed throughout the week. “We were cautiously optimistic that the sale would be around the figures of last year – and we went close with the average and gross figures falling only slightly.
“We’re thrilled with the overall clearance rate of over 81%. The high Australian dollar was obviously an issue with a number of international buyers – but we still had strong interest and activity from our clients who flew in from abroad.”
