Street Sense transfers to Japan

Darley shuttler Street Sense has been transferred from Jonabell Farm in Kentucky to Darley’s Japanese base in Hokkaido.

Street Sense (Street Cry) created history by winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile – Kentucky Derby double and he is currently in the Top 5 among second-season stallions in North America.  He has sired 62 winners of 97 races world-wide and there have been 13 stakes performers among that total including Castaway, Motor City Aubby K and Miss Netta.

“Japan is a racing superpower,” Darley spokesman Ollie Tait said.  “The transfer of Street Sense there is an indication of the ambition that Darley has for our operation in many different parts of the world.”

Street Sense has sired 4 winners from 6 to race in Japan.  An Aussie expat, Tait didn’t mention whether Street Sense would be returning to Australia in 2013.

Darley shuttles Street Sense to Australia for a $38,500 (inc gst).  His oldest southern hemisphere bred gallopers are spring three year-old and they are taking time to find winning form.

There have been just 4 winners from 27 starters to date in Australia and NZ.
