Former Chatswood Stud shuttler Amadeus Wolf (GB) has died in France.
The son of Mozart succumbed to a stroke aged 14 at Haras des Faunes. He had initially retired to the Irish National Stud after a career highlighted by victories in the G1 Middle Park Stakes and G2 Coventry Stakes.
Chatswood studmaster Greg Willis stood Amadeus Wolf for three southern seasons until 2012. He sired 138 foals in Victoria at an $11,000 service fee, however, his only Australian black-type performer has been 2014 Mornington Cup winner Instrumentalist.
Amadeus Wolf fared only marginally better in Europe with three stakes winners – Hamza, Caledonian Spring and Avabin.
