Supreme colt Salutes in South Africa

Supreme Thoroughbreds is going from strength-to-strength with its graduates in South Africa.

The Romsey nursery sold Ten Gun Salute for $10,000 at the 2014 Inglis Classic Summer Sale and he looks to have a future in staying ranks after winning a 1900m maiden at Greyville on Tuesday.

Ten Gun Salute (3c Henrythenavigator – Ladybird Blue by Bluebird) was facing the starter for just the fourth time to easily defeat NZ bred gelding Sheriff Hood (Rip Van Winkle).

Supreme Thoroughbreds and Aquanita Racing principal Peter Howell sold him to Heritage Bloodstock’s Paul Guy at the Classic Sale.  He was one of 11 yearlings bought by Guy who is the Inglis agent in South Africa.

Ten Gun Salute’s dam Ladybird Blue won stakes races at Morphettville and Moonee Valley and she was also Group 1 placed in the 1995 South Australian Oaks.  Her final foal is a 2yo filly named Jubilee Blue (Statue Of Liberty) and she is on the books with Aquanita trainer Robert Smerdon.

A Supreme Thoroughbreds graduate topped last month’s South African 2YO Sale.  The Myboycharlie filly was pin-hooked for $30,000 out of this year’s Classic Sale and her value sky-rocketed to R2 million (AUD 202,545) at the Ready To Run Sale in Jo’burg.
