Supreme team at Serpentine

Roselee Park couple Wayne & Tracy Rodwell have been on the front foot tagging photos to the TBWA Facebook Foal Gallery and resident sires Jimmy Choux (NZ) and Vital Equine (GB) have backed that up with a winning weekend.

Jimmy Choux mare Supreme Heights has been mentioned as a future Group 1 galloper after taking a Group 3 at New Plymouth last month and winning again at that level in the Taranaki Breeders Stakes (1400m) on Saturday.

Supreme Heights is a daughter of Summer Heights (Stark South) and that gave her a head-start in life across the Tasman.  Her pedigree teams a NZ Horse of the Year over a Kiwi family that earned elite status with numerous stakes winners headed by Battle Heights (Cox Plate) and Sky Heights (Caulfield Cup).

“I did have a few concerns about the track being a bit firm for her today but she didn’t seem to worry about that,” trainer Mark Brosnan said.  “She’s lifted a peg or two lately but there’s not a lot around for her at the moment.”

Brosnan has the option to spell her before coming back for a long-range Group 1 goal in the NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) at Te Aroha in April.

Winning jockey Michael McNab was riding Supreme Heights for the first time.  “The instructions were to try and dictate like her last win but to also be prepared to take a sit if something wanted to go mad,” he said.  “We ended up getting a soft lead and she got into such a nice rhythm.  We were travelling well and, when I asked, she just found another gear.”

Jimmy Choux’s first crop of WA-bred foals are part of a camera-friendly creche at Roselee Park in Serpentine.  Among them is a half-sister to stakes winner The Celt and other fillies from Star Magnet (Star Witness) and Pamela Joy (Helmet).

Vital Equine dominated the Ladies Day Sprint meeting at Geraldton on Sunday winning the final three races.  Tiarnna Robertson prepared Angry Annie to claim the main event and stablemates Designated Drinker and Megadon book-ended her victory for trainer Ash Maley.

His Victorian-based gelding Wild Vitality has qualified for the Grand Hcp (1700m) on the Caulfield Cup undercard this Saturday.  On a star-studded program, Ballarat trainer Rodney Foster has him primed for a career-high performance.

Roselee Park has maintained the same service fee for Jimmy Choux ($4,950) and adjusted Vital Equine ($3,300) this season.  Fees (inc GST).
