King of Prussia has climbed to third place on the Victorian sires’ premiership with a swag of winners in the last week.
With four months of the current season remaining, the Greta West Stud resident has sired 42 winners of 56 races which is next best behind top two Bel Esprit and Bianconi.
King of Prussia sired 8 winners both here and abroad between Thursday and Tuesday.
His lightly-raced son Kenston maintained a top strike-rate on the first day of the Albury Cup carnival. Racing second-up over 1000 metres, he crossed from the outside barrier to sit on the favourite Courting Magic over 1000m. Once balanced, he dashed away in the straight and won pulling up by more than two lengths for owner-breeder Noel Forrest.
Kenston (3g King Of Prussia – Chancheeta by Jackson Square) has won twice and been runner-up twice in five starts for Wodonga trainer Peter Maher. His only unplaced run was behind Sayahailmary in the Jack Maher Classic which is named after Peter’s father who was a legend around border tracks.
There were three King Of Prussia Cup winners on Sunday starting with Naratel in the Barossa Cup (1500m) at Gawler.
Naratel (6g King Of Prussia – Princess Kara by Our Poetic Prince) won races at Seymour and Ballarat before transferring to Phillip Stokes in Adelaide. He’s also been credited with a Morphettville victory for the Saddlers Knife Syndicate.
Prussian Secret’s Cups haul reached five when he won the Wellington Cup (1700m) on Sunday. It joins Cups from Guyra, Armidale, Coonamble and Quirindi in the last 12 months. He also travelled to town for an Eagle Farm victory late last year.
Prussian Secret (6g King Of Prussia – Let’s Remember by Almaarad) is racing better than ever for Leon Davies at Tamworth. The gelding never raced beyond a mile when based in Victoria where he started 11 times for wins at Hamilton (1200m) and Tatura (1400m).
Stepping up in distance has been the key to unlocking Prussian Secret’s potential. He’s unbeaten in five starts at over 1600m and longer on good tracks since the transfer to NSW.
In Hong Kong, King Of Scots climbed his way into Class 2 company after a winning the CUHK Alumni Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday. “Hasn’t he improved,” winning jockey Douglas Whyte said after the pair cruised to a two length win over 1600m. “He’s become a solid horse all-round and I don’t think he’s done with yet.”
King Of Scots (5g King Of Prussia – Scot’s Lassie by Salmon Leap) has won five races for trainer Andreas Schutz and owner Fan Shi Hoo. He was sold to Hong Kong after winning a 2YO barrier trail at Cranbourne and has earned the equivalent of AUD 476,000.
Another of King Of Prussia’s off-shore winners arrived on Friday when Macau Stand scored for fifth time for leading trainer K.H.Leong. He raced here as Kaiser Impact and was sold to Macau after winning a Terang maiden by three lengths for Shane Stockdale.
Back home, King Of Prussia’s winning momentum continued on Monday with Argenore (Ararat) and he followed with an interstate double on Tuesday courtesy of Tossit Around (Sale) and Queens Are Trumps (Scone).
King Of Prussia (Anabaa) was a brilliant stakes winner on debut at Flemington but a leg injury curtailed his career to just 8 starts. Laurie and John McCarthy stand him at Greta West for a $3,300 service fee. He stands alongside Dangerous (Danehill) and Man Of Illusion (Encosta de Lago).
