Shrewd Rhythm will return to Lindsay Park Stud for the 2011 stud season. The Danehill Dancer stakes winner is owned by Lindsay Park and Patinack Farm and kick-started his stud career at Touchstone Farm in WA last year.
Shrewd Rhythm (Danehill Dancer – Balcanny by Canny Lad) was a precocious individual as a two year-old under the care of Greg Eurell. He jumped the blocks as a January juvenile winning on debut at Caulfield and then defeated Zizou in the Blue Diamond Prelude (G3). He was subsequently placed in the Blue Diamond Stakes (G1) and the Inglis Premier before going for a spell.
David Hayes had been negotiating to buy Shrewd Rhythm and the sale went through before a first-up victory as a three year-old in the Vain Stakes at Caulfield. “He’s a gun horse,” Hayes said. “My horses have been following him around for a while, so I know.”
Shrewd Rhythm was beaten a length by Purrealist and Marching in the Guineas Prelude (G3) but then suffered a back injury that limited his racing days.
Shrewd Rhythm’s pedigree is one of substance, strength and speed. He is by Danehill Dancer, one of the world’s leading dual hemisphere stallions and now creating a dynasty of his own through the deeds of Choisir and Starspangledbanner. Shrewd Rhythm is bred on the successful Danehill – Canny Lad cross as Redoute’s Choice.
His stakes winning dam Balcanny (Canny Lad) has also produced G2 winning sprinter Blur and stakes performer Dancescape.
A limited number of shares in Shrewd Rhythm will be made available to breeders. For more information please contact Sam Hayes 0438 767 227 or Dean Elliott 0419 221 413.
