Swettenham’s Cup Shuffle

Swettenham Stud sire Dash For Cash will break new ground on Saturday if his rejuvenated gelding Shuffle The Cash wins the G2 Brisbane Cup (2400m).

Dash For Cash has sired the winners of 440 races and only one of those has been as far as 2400m.  The Ken Keys trained Boom ‘n’ Zoom won over that trip at Sandown in 2010.

Trainer Bryan Guy reckons Shuffle The Cash will run the Cup right out.  “He can really wind up and finish off his races with the right run,” Guy said after the grey won the G3 Premier’s Cup (2200m) at Doomben on May 28. “He’s a pleasure to have in the stable and he’s looking for longer now.”

Shuffle The Cash (6g Dash For Cash – Final Shuffle by Forest Glow) is a homebred for owners John and Margaret Donnelly & Keith and Denise Morrow.

John Donnelly has bred from the family for three generations since buying Happy Harmony (Hell for Leather) from Lomar Park owner Fred Peisah in 1986.

The mare was in foal to Lomar Park sire Adirondack Holme and the filly she was carrying – Soft Shuffle – is the second-dam of Shuffle The Cash .

Peisah has been blessed with a good stallion since standing Le Cordonnier (Fr) as his foundation sire in 1986. His first-crop included G1 winner Sovereign Slipper who was trained by Guy’s father Ray.
