Tantrum set for Tasmanian Oaks

Former Swettenham Stud shuttler Hold That Tiger sired his second stakes winner in as many weeks when Temper Tantrum scored a brave victory in the LR Strutt Stakes in Hobart on Sunday.

Temper Tantrum (3f Hold That Tiger – Disco Bickie by Grand Lodge) completed a hat-trick after priors at Cranbourne and Werribee.  She crossed Bass Strait to win by more than a length over Khandallah (Kitten’s Joy) and Gee Gee’s La Quita (Atlantis Prince).

Mornington trainer Alex McPherson was delighted with the win and confirmed his filly would progress to the LR Tasmanian Oaks in Launceston on February 22.

A fortnight before the Strutt Stakes, Hold That Tiger (Storm Cat) sired front-running stayer Apprehend to win the LR Werribee Cup(2600m).  After reverse shuttling between Swettenham and France for three years, Hold That Tiger now stands permanently at Haras de la Haie Neuve.

Temper Tantrum’s dam Disco Bickie died last October.  Her half-sister Shelbourne Lass (Brocco) was a G3 winner at Flemington and Morphettville.  Her final foal is an unnamed two year-old colt by Snowland.
