Temple of Boom boosted his Flemington record to two-from-two with an emphatic victory in the G3 Aurie’s Star Hcp down the straight-six on Saturday.

Temple of Boom (5g Piccolo – Temple Spirit by Special Dane) was within striking distance for much of the race before accelerating to the lead on the course proper.  He cruised home to beat Rekindled Interest (Redoute’s Choice) and Offenders (Canny Lad).

Temple of Boom lifted his strike-rate to 8 victories in 22 starts including the LR Swisse Stakes at Flemington during the last Melbourne Cup carnival.  He also won the Magic Millions Sprint (1000m) at the Gold Coast in January.

“He’s 100% here and let’s hope it continues through the spring carnival,” trainer Tony Gollan said.  “We might look at a race like the Salinger Stakes.”

Temple of Boom cost $40,000 at 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He was offered by Eureka Stud and owners Col and Scott McAlpine kept a share which has turned out to be lucrative decision.  The gelding has now accumulated over $681,000 in prizemoney.

He is by former Eureka shuttler Piccolo and is an older half-brother to brilliant sprinter Spirit of Boom.  The Sequalo colt won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic Prelude and Listed Ken Russell Memorial Classic last year.

The Aurie’s Star win completed a winning day at headquarters for Eureka Stud.  The McAlpines also bred Diamondsondinside who won the opening race of the Flemington season.  They sold the Iglesia gelding for $40,000 at the 2004 Gold Coast Magic Millions and he has now earned over $644,000.
