Warrnambool sprinter wins Spring Stakes

Choisir sprinter Uxorious is giving Warrnambool trainer Matt Williams the ride of a lifetime.

Uxorious (6g Choisir – Shiny Mai by Keltrice) led home an Inglis quinella in the G3 SAJC Spring Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.  He scored by two lengths from Periduki (Perugino).

Uxorious won his maiden on the 2010 Warrnambool Cup day program and returned to claim the LR Wangoom Handicap at the famous carnival in May.  He followed up with another feature win in the Golden Topaz at Swan Hill in June.

Bred by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock manager Darren Dance, Uxorious was catalogued for the 2006 Inglis Easter weanling sale but was passed in for $34,000.  The Spring Stakes took his record to 7 wins in 13 starts and over $287,000 in prizemoney.

It was part of an interstate treble for Choisir.  The Coolmore sire was also represented by Asian Young Guns Challenge winner Chosen To Fly at Flemington and LR Belmont Newmarket winner Kid Choisir in Perth.
