Third Group 1 winner by Iffraaj

Chriselliam became the third Group 1 winner by Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj in the G1 Shadwell Fillies Mile at Newmarket on Friday.

She led home a career-high result for her sire when defeating Iffraaj filly Rizeena by a length.  The runner-up had won the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh earlier this month.

Chriselliam (2f Iffraaj – Danielli by Danehill) is trained by Charlie Hills for a partnership that includes former champion jockey Willie Carson.  Her dam is a half-sister to Group 1 winning fillies Eva’s Request (Soviet Star) and Priory Bell (Priolo).

“She’s got such a big stride and we’ve loved her from the day she came to the yard,” Hills said.  “She broke the track record at Warwick but, for whatever reason, was flat in a Group 3 at Deauville so we were scratching our heads.

“We will have a look at the Breeders’ Cup but otherwise she will be prepared for the classics next season.  She’s got plenty of size and scope.”

Iffraaj (Zafonic) made a blistering start to his stud career with 38 individual winners in his first northern crop topped by G1 hero Wotton Basset.  He shuttles from Darley’s Kildangan Stud to Haunui Farm.

There have been five (NZ) stakes winners to date from his first southern book – Fix, If I Can I Can, Kisses, So Wotif and Twilight Granita.
