Trotamondo takes a winning mark at Mornington

New Sunspeed sire Trotamondo (Chi) was on the mark at Mornington’s Grand Final meeting on Saturday.

Hannaford (4g Trotamondo – Best Offer by Marscay) came from well back in the Specialized Builders Hcp (1510m) and was ridden strongly to the line by Dwayne Dunn.  “It was a rewarding victory for a wonderful group of clients,” trainer Robbie Laing said.  “He looks like a stayer of the future and should be able to score a win in town over further ground.”

Hannaford appreciated the Heavy 10 going at Mornington after earlier wins at Sale (Heavy 8) in February and Mornington (Heavy 9) in August.

The winner was catalogued but withdrawn from the 2011 Inglis Classic yearling sale by John Stuart Investments.  His dam Best Offer won at Flemington and her half-brother Oamaru Storm (Royal Academy) won the LR Heatherlie Hcp at Caulfield.

Trotamondo (Hussonet) originally stood at Yarraman Stud before moving to Belay Stud at Greenough in Western Australia.  Studmaster Robert Martin stands him for a $1,500 service fee.
