Third Vamos victory for Tasmania’s First Lady

Tasmanian star Lady Lynette returned to her brilliant best for a third victory in the LR Vamos Stakes at Launceston on Wednesday night.

The David and Scott Brunton-trained mare turned the tables on rising star Rebel Bride who had defeated her in the G3 Bow Mistress Stakes last week.

The Vamos Stakes was a triumph for leading Tasmanian nursery Armidale Stud.  Lady Lynette led home a trifecta for its stallions ahead of Buzzing Along (Tough Speed) and Rebel Bride (Telesto).

Lady Lynette (7m Ladoni – Queen’s Own by Coronation Day) had been retired to stud after winning the G2 Blazer Stakes at Flemington in October.  But managing part-owner Doug Green resurrected her racing career after a proposed sale to a NZ stud fell through.

Rebel Bride burst clear in the straight and looked all set to claim the Tasmanian feature double for mares.  But just when she was being declared the winner, Lady Lynette closed the gap and won running away by a half-head from her stablemate Buzzing Along.

Rebel Bride was game in defeat and she will now go to the paddock for a well earned spell while Lady Lynette could find her way back to Victoria for some selected mares races.

The third Vamos victory took her earnings to $1.12 million from 15 wins and 17 placings in 48 starts.

Lady Lynette cost just $13,000 out of the Armidale Stud draft at the 2006 Tasmanian Magic Millions.  Armidale has a Magnus half brother to Lady Lynette catalogued as Lot 147 for the Inglis Premier yearling sale in Melbourne on February 27.
