Big time beckons Go Baby Go

Danehill stallion Medal Of Honour is about to hit the big time in Hong Kong with his very promising sprinter Go Baby Go.

Go Baby Go (4g Medal Of Honor – Miss Whirl by Pricelessly) is unbeaten over 1000m at Sha Tin and champion jockey Douglas Whyte said the gelding hasn’t stopped improving since arriving from Perth.

Go Baby Go won on debut in a Class 4 and followed up with a Class 3 victory clocking 56.98s.  He shouldered 60.5kg to complete a winning hat-trick down the straight course in the Yan Oi Tong Cup last Saturday.

“His temperament has been the thing that I thought could hinder his progress,” Whyte explained.  “But he took another step on Saturday – mentally, he was perfect.  He’s getting better all the time and had too much strength and ability for them.  I have no doubts he can run a strong 1200m.”

Medal Of Honour retired to Yarradale Stud in 2002 but gradually dropped down the pecking order with the arrivals of War Chant, Discorsi, Scandal Keeper and Musket.  His best galloper to date has been Maxximus Dignitas who won five races in Perth and was also beaten a nose in the LR Belgravia Stakes.

Go Baby Go was given a solid grounding by owner-breeder Bill Fell before transferring off-shore to trainer Dennis Yip.  Fell prepared a large team for WA Inc. identity Yossie Goldberg in the 1980s.

His dam Miss Whirl was bred by Milfordale Stud owner Tony Bartlett who also raced G1 Railway Stakes winner Hardrada.
