Alezan Thunder has moved into the Top 5 in the order of entry for next month’s $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Alezan Thunder (2f Written Tycoon – Elysian Thunder by Thunder Gulch) couldn’t have been more impressive in winning in the Swettenham Stud Plate (900m) last weekend. The Mark Kavanagh trained filly streaked clear to win by more than three lengths at Sandown.
The win was her second in three runs following a barnstorming debut success at Morphettville in October. Second-up she was placed in Llisted company at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.
Alezan Thunder is by former outstanding juvenile and Magic Millions graduate Written Tycoon. She was purchased for $55,000 from Rothwell Park at the 2001 Adelaide Magic Millions.
“We bought her without the catalogue, she doesn’t have much of a pedigree,” Kavanagh said. “We just walked around and picked out the best type.”
Kavanagh has had great success with graduates from the Adelaide Magic Millions including G1 winners Devil Moon, Divine Madonna, Hard to Get and Undoubtedly.
Sefton Park will offer a younger half-brother to Elysian Thunder by Darley sire Shaft at the 2012 Adelaide Magic Millions.
The John O’Shea trained filly Hoss Amor (General Nediym) tops the table after a last-start victory in the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic.
