Widden Stud has announced G2 winning Redoute’s Choice stallion Tickets will join its roster in 2011.
Tickets is one of five winners bred by Peter and Wendy Moran from their million-dollar Success Express mare Staging. She is also the dam of young sires Excites (Danewin) and Duporth (Red Ransom) who were G1 winners for the Queensland couple.
“Tickets is by Redoute’s Choice, like our Champion 2YO sire Stratum,” Widden Stud’s Antony Thompson commented. “He has the pedigree, performance and good looks for breeders looking to tap into this rapidly evolving sireline at a value for money fee.”
A high class juvenile, Tickets started his career with John O’Shea and defeated subsequent GI winners Manhattan Rain and Wanted in the Listed AJC Canonbury Stakes on debut at Randwick.
He followed up with a strong win in the G2 STC Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill prompting O’Shea to declare he was the most exciting two year-old in the country.
Tickets finished a gallant second to Manhattan Rain in the GI AJC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) beating home subsequent GI winners Rostova, Onemorenomore and the Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready.
Well fancied to win the GI AJC Champagne Stakes (1600m), he featured three times in the stewards’ report in what was a roughly run race in slow conditions before eventually finishing second to Onemorenomore.
Under the care of Peter Moody, Tickets trained on at three to win the G2 STC Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) and he was also an unlucky fourth in the GI VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.
Tickets will stand at an introductory fee of $9,900 (inc gst).
