Quadardee gave former Woodwinds Farm sire Fouardee a belated breakthrough on Wednesday. The Dan Bougoure trained filly had been runner-up three times before winning the Lyndhurst Stud Maiden Plate (1110m) at Doomben.
Quadardee is one of 7 first-crop starters by Fouardee who died in a paddock accident at Woodwinds in December 2008.
Fouardee (Forest Glow) was trained by Jim and Greg Lee at Randwick and was a short-course winner of the G3 Concorde Stakes at Rosehill, Listed Satellite Stakes at both Canterbury (2002) & Rosehill (2003) plus the Listed Bill Ritchie Hcp at Warwick Farm.
He also won the Listed Dr John Power Stakes at Eagle Farm but couldn’t buy a win in 13 starts at his home track.
Quadardee (3f Fouardee – Ms Aloyo by Monde Bleu) carries the Bougoure family’s Red & White colours and Black cap made famous by Strawberry Road. Dan had barely started training in his own right when he found world-class sprinter Falvelon.
Horses of his calibre don’t come along every day and Bougoure is making the most of stock like Quadardee who is from a mare that retired a maiden after 15 starts.
Bougoure has Blazing Hearts ready to win again after an eye-catching first-up effort behind Bevagna at the Sunshine Coast on January 11. The Show A Heart gelding was unlucky in last year’s Listed Eye Liner Stakes.
Stablemates Red Hot Hussler (Hussonet) and Red Dash (Sequalo) completed an Ipswich double for Bougoure last month but, more importantly, both winners are owned by Hoss and Gillian Heinrich.
And Quadardee’s owner-breeder Mick Constatine will send her two year-old sister to Bougoure. She comes from Fouardee’s penultimate crop and has been named Ms Ardee.
Fouardee (Forest Glow) left just 51 foals in three books at Woodwinds which is situated in Queensland’s Numinbah Valley near the NSW border. The stud’s owners Shannon and Erica Bates currently stand Saint Thomas (Danehill) and Tanabota (Redoute’s Choice).
