Two Sugars too good at Mornington

Swettenham Stud sire Dash For Cash began October with stakes winners Chase The Rainbow (G2 MVRC Stutt Stakes) and Boom ‘n’ Zoom (LR Cranbourne Cup) and he finished the month with another three winners last week.

Cash Bound (3g Dash For Cash – Southern Bound by Fasliyev) won first-up with a withering finish at Bendigo on Wednesday.  He was G3 placed in the SAJC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Morphettville in April and looks another exciting prospect for owner-breeder Gerry Ryan.

Ryan can capture another Melbourne Cup on Tuesday with 2010 winner Americain and he also has an interest in last start Irish St Leger winner Jukebox Jury.

Dash For Cash got his Bendigo winner from Irish bred mare Southern Bound.  She won at the Curragh and is a half-sister to G2 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Polaire (Polish Patriot).

Jumpin Jack Cash demonstrated the versatility of the Dash For Cash breed when he won the Advanced Mailing Solutions Hcp over 3000 metres at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

He is trained by Patrick Payne won by five lengths over the marathon trip for connections

Jumpin Jack Cash (6g Dash For Cash – Black Sari by Bureaucracy) comes from a family of tough Kiwi stock.  His dam is a half-sister to LR Timaru Cup winner Sapphire Belle (Danske).

He was retained by Toolern Vale based breeders Carbine Vale Thoroughbreds after being passed-in for $32,500 at the 2007 Inglis Melbourne yearling sale.  The Moonee Valley victory sent his earnings to more than double that amount.

Two Sugars completed a terrific month for Dash For Cash when she landed a plunge in the Dezirable Nails & Beauty Maiden (1200m) at Mornington on Sunday.  She firmed from $6 into $3.80 and was always travelling like a winner first-up.

The Matt Laurie trained filly was cranked up by Craig Newitt approaching the corner and scored by more than two lengths.  “She was strong in the run and hit the line nicely,” Laurie said.  “She’s got ability and there’s plenty of improvement off that effort.”

Two Sugars (3f Dash For Cash – Miss Capucino by Khozaam) is bred to get over ground.  She is the final foal of NZ mare who won up to 2100m and her second dam San Lefair (St Puckle) was fourth home in a G1 Fourex Cup at Doomben.

Dash For Cash is rapidly approaching the 500 wins milestone.  Two Sugars became his 190th winner and they have won 491 races at a sky-high 60% strike-rate.
