A Sebring colt topped the first session of the Magic Millions National yearling sale at the Gold Coast on Tuesday. NZ agent David Ellis snared the prized lot with a winning bid of $230,000.
Offered by Tyreel Stud, the chestnut colt is from G1 New Zealand Oaks winner Bramble Rose and is a half brother to the Sydney stakes winner Maules Creek.
Day 1 of the yearling sale was a lucrative session for Tyreel Stud. The Fleming family’s Agnes Bank nursery presented four of the eight lots on the leader-board. Their Encosta de Lago colt from Slip Sliding made $160,000 to Hong Kong based Willie Leung.
Trade on Tuesday reached $3.90 million at an average of $33,647 on a clearance rate of 70%. “It was good to see a higher clearance rate than the same session last year,” Magic Millions managing director Vin Cox said. “Hopefully, we can see that rise further with a good line-up of yearlings to go under the hammer on Wednesday.”
