Tzar, the top priced lot of the 2010 Magic Millions National HIT Sale, scored an impressive debut win in Singapore on Sunday.
Tzar (2g Gonski – Blazing Sky by Hurricane Sky) was purchased for $180,000 from Riva Ridge Stud at the Gold Coast last October. He had initially gone through the ring for $15,000 at the 2010 Adelaide Magic Millions.
Sent out the favourite, the Pat Shaw trained gelding cruised home in the straight to beat Handsome Bachelor (Bachelor Duke) by a length. “I thought he would need the run, but he showed plenty of pace and courage,” winning rider Barend Vorster said. “We’ve only had him for six months and I’m sure he can only improve.”
Queensland based couple Cameron and Kelly Bond bought the yougnster for $15,000 in Adelaide and pin-hooked him under their Kenmore Lodge banner for the 2YO HIT Sale. He was snapped up by Andy Williams of World Wide Bloodstock for $180,000.
Williams also bought Tzar’s champion stablemate Rocket Man for Shaw and owner Fred Crabbia in Australia.
Winning sire Gonski is a Darley resident and his first crop are making their presence felt with six winners plus stakes placed filly Gonski Girl.
Tzar’s dam Blazing Sky is a half sister to stakes winners Si Senor (Racer’s Edge) and Bello Signor (Raami). The mare has followed up with fillies by Shinzig and Blevic.
