Unbeaten colt Mutin topped the Arqana Arc Sale on Saturday evening after agent Hubie de Burgh bid 700,000 euros for the Haras Du Quesnay homebred.
Mutin (2c Kentucky Dynamite – Mytographie by Anabaa) has won his only two starts at Chantilly (1400m) and Saint-Cloud (1600m). Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek has nominated him for the G3 Prix Thomas Byron at Saint-Cloud next Thursday.
“He is for an existing client and will make a lovely three year old,” de Burgh said. “Hopefully, he will be a French Derby prospect but it hasn’t been decided if he will stay here.”
Next best on the leader-board was Cay Verde who is due to run in the G1 Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp on Sunday.
Cay Verde (2c Bahamian Bounty – All Quiet by Piccolo) won at Ascot and the Curragh before claiming the G3 Prix d’Arenberg at Chantilly last month. He changed hands for 320,000 euros.
