Scenic stallion Universal Ruler will be retired to stud after running in the G3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) in Perth this Saturday.
Trainer Darren McAuliffe confirmed the brilliant sprinter has already been signed to stand at a leading Westspeed stud. Full details are expected to be announced before the weekend.
“He will be retired, win, lose or draw on Saturday,” McAuliffe said. “He will be let down and then be ready to stand at stud for the coming season.”
Universal Ruler (4h Scenic – Rulings by Hurricane Sky) won five races including the 2008 Bunbury Stakes (LR). He also defeated Scenic Blast in the 2007 Listed Perth Stakes.
“I am sure there will be a lot of interest in him from local breeders,” McAuliffe said. “They know just how good he could have been, if not for various problems that hampered his career.”
