Upbeat mood ahead of Melbourne Premier Sale

Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale inspections were in full swing during a hot day at Oaklands Junction on Saturday.

The mood was positive, especially around the Yallambee Stud and Eliza Park barns where they cheered home Upbeat in the G2 MRC Autumn Classic at Caulfield.

Upbeat (3c Strategic – Silverbeat by Distant Music) had plenty of admirers at Oaklands two years ago when he was purchased out of Yallambee Stud’s draft by trainer Anthony Cummings for $90,000.

Eliza Park will offer Upbeat’s yearling half-brother by Magnus as Lot 230 at this week’s Melbourne Premier on behalf of his breeder Rob Crabtree .  The colt was catalogued but withdrawn from the Inglis Great Southern Foal Sale last year.

Upbeat is the first foal of Silverbeat who retired a maiden but did earn black-type when runner-up to Jumlah in the 2006 LR Blue Diamond Preview.  She is a half-sister to G3 Sandown Stakes winner Any Rhythm (Western Symphony).

A total of 790 yearlings have been entered for this year’s Premier Sale in Melbourne.  614 lots will be offered in Session 1 held on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by 176 lots in Session 2 on Thursday.
