Tony Vasil is taking a strong team to Moonee Valley tonight and can get the ball rolling with Valdemoro in Race 1 (6.45pm).
Valdemoro (3f Encosta de Lago-Hveger by Danehill) caught the eye with an impressive debut performance behind boom filly My Emotion at this track back on September 12. Sitting at the tail of the field she began to make her move at the school and quickly rounded the field before hitting the line hard to finish second. Well in the market last start at Caulfield, she was all at sea on the slow track, eventually finishing seventh.
Back at Moonee Valley tonight with in-form hoop Nick Hall in the saddle and from gate 3, Valdemoro looks to have a class edge on her rivals. It could be the start of a big weekend for the filly who is a homebred for Frank Tagg’s Arch of Gold Syndicate. They will be represented by Carrara in tomorrow’s G1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m).
Valdemoro is the first foal for Hveger who was placed in the G1 SAJC Australasian Oaks. She is a full sister to Elvstroem and a half sister to Coolmore sire Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus) who both won at G1 level for Tagg and Vasil.
