Rogano has unveiled a WA Guineas candidate in his first crop from Oakland Park Stud.
His unbeaten 3yo Where’s Wally began building a platform for better things in a Pinjarra maiden last month and then nailed Nightwatchman by a head in the James Boag’s Premium Plate (1400m) at Belmont on Saturday.
The G2 WA Guineas (1600m) is worth winning with $500,000 added at Ascot on November 19. “It’s a big step but you’ve got to aim high,” trainer Ted Martinovich said. “He’s got a fair bit of ability and does all the right things apart from being a bit temperamental at times.”
Where’s Wally (3g Rogano – Beauty World by Danehill Dancer) is bred to make the grade in Group company being a half-brother to eastern seaboard stakes winners Hi World (G3 Frank Packer Plate) and Loveyamadly (LR Abell Stakes).
Belmont Bloodstock’s Damon Gabbedy bought their dam Beauty World on behalf of Oakland Park’s Neville Duncan for $50,000 at the 2012 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale. She was positive to Coolmore Stud shuttler Henrythenavigator and that foal filled out another black-type victory for the family as Lite’n In My Veins in last year’s G3 Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic at Ascot.
Rogano (Redoute’s Choice) was Champion WA first-season sire in 2015-16 with city winners Ellens Choice (Ascot), Hit Tune (Belmont) plus Sandalwood (Pinjarra) from just 8 starters. A full-brother to Not A Single Doubt, he won twice at Canterbury before injuries put a stop to his career after a handful of outings.
Duncan stands Rogano alongside Viscount and Sessions at Oakland Park for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee.
