Regally bred Altius rounded out another winning afternoon for Redoute’s Choice with a two length victory in the Clubs NSW Hcp (1500m) in the final event at Rosehill on Saturday.

Redoute’s Choice sired four winners on Saturday including a Rosehill double with the Chris Waller trained stablemates The Warrior Woman and Altius.  

The Arrowfield champion has kick-started the season with 15 winners around Australia in the first fortnight of 2011-12.  Lemieux (Gold Coast) and Master Peace (Toowoomba) completed his four-timer on Saturday.

Altius (4h Redoute’s Choice – Circles Of Gold by Marscay) raced much closer to the speed than in previous starts and he was still strong towards the finish at Rosehill.  “We will set him for the Epsom Handicap,” Waller said.  “He’s obviously a valuable horse and he’s got a massive future.”

Altius is a half-brother to G1 winners Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus) and Elvstroem (Danehill) and, like them, was initially trained by Tony Vasil at Caulfield.  And he followed their lead with a debut victory in the 2010 Elvstroem Classic (1300m) at Swan Hill.

Owner-breeders Frank Tagg, Garry Moffitt and Frank Meduri would be flooded with offers from all the high-profile Hunter Valley studs if Altius won the Epsom.

Redoute’s Choice gelding Lemieux also gave trainer Paul Messara and Jonathan Munz a great start to the season when he completed a hat-trick at the Gold Coast on Saturday.  Munz races Lemieux with Arrowfield’s John Messara and Alan Jones.  

Last Wednesday, Paul Messara and Munz combined to win at Canterbury with impressive first-time starter Rekindled Alliance.

Rekindled Alliance (3c Redoute’s Choice – Rekindled Affair by Rainbow Quest) is a brother to Melbourne G2 winner Rekindled Interest.  The latter returned from a long spell to finish second in the G3 Aurie’s Star at Flemington on August 6.

Redoute’s Choice will stand the 2011 season at a fee of $137,500 (inc. gst).
