Washington – Bred To Win – Thursday, 19 November 2009

David Hayes has given Washington plenty of time to mature and the Golan gelding is primed to score for the second time in the Chatswood Stud Country Showcase at Seymour (Race 6 at 3.57pm AEDT) this afternoon.

Washington (4g Golan – Alice Blue Gown by Alshinfarah) won over 1700m at Sale in April and running second-up over 1400m at Seymour today should suit.

He resumed over 1414m at Pakenham last month and didn’t have much luck when flying home to be beaten 1.6 lengths in the race won by Back Chattin’ Miss.  He goes up a grade but gets a 3kg weight concession today.

Washington is by Golan who is the sire of Victoria Derby winner Kibbutz.  His dam Alice Blue Gown won in New Zealand and Sydney and she was also stake placed twice at Moonee Valley.

Second dam She Flys (Nuclear Power) was a brilliant youngster winning the G3 VATC Debutante Stakes, G3 VATC Merson Cooper Stakes, Listed VRC Myer Fashion Stakes and Listed Maribyrnong Trial.
