Group 1 winning Encosta De Lago stallion Vanbrugh has been retired to stand at Windsor Park Stud in NZ.
Trainer Chris Waller scratched him from an intended finale in last Saturday’s G1 Doomben Cup due to Heavy 9 conditions in Brisbane.
“We’re excited to have Vanbrugh joining our team of stallions,” Windsor Park owner Rodney Schick said. “He won on debut at two then trained on to win the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at three, just like Savabeel and Dundeel. And he also won the G3 Coongy Hcp at Caulfield in October.
“He’s a great type from a high-class family and being a Group 1 winning son of a champion sire he offers breeders a massive entry-level opportunity.”
Vanbrugh (4h Encosta de Lago – Soho Secret by Lucky Owners) was a $100,000 graduate of the 2014 Sydney Easter Yearling Sale and was raced by USA-based Merriebelle Stable in partnership with Sydney couple Francis and Barbara Kennedy. His second dam Professionelle (Centaine) produced stakes winners Sportsman, Prisoner Of Love, Hoystar & King Of Prussia.
Windsor Park will stand him for a service fee of $6,000 (plus gst).
