Regally-bred stallion Last Typhoon has been retired to Bullarook Park Stud in Victoria.
The son of Street Cry is the only foal from Australian Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy and he was tipped to top the 2014 Inglis Easter yearling sale when offered by breeder John Hutchins.
Despite bids reaching $2.10 million, the colt was passed-in and sent to trainer Peter Moody who could only coax wins from him at Donald and Bairnsdale in 10 starts. Transferred to Kelly Schweida last May, he ran down the track in the G3 Grand Prix at Doomben in what was to be his final start.
While not showing the class of his dam, Last Typhoon’s good looks and stellar pedigree was the major attraction for Bullarook Park’s Malcolm Boyd. “The Street Cry influence is a big tick for me,” he said. “He’s a champion sire, proven in Australian conditions, and this fellow is from a simply outstanding family.”
Last Typhoon makes his debut at a fee of $4,400 (inc gst).
