Graduates of Hudson Conway reduction sales at the Magic Millions were successful at Canterbury and the Sunshine Coast on Wednesday.

Successful owner Lloyd Williams sold Strumming (Iglesia) for $67,000 at the Gold Coast in 2009 and he scored for the third time for his new connections at Canterbury.  “He’s an honest little horse,” stable foreman Blake Ryan said.  “Hopefully we can find another race for him.”

Team Williams bought Strumming for $285,000 at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale from Daandine Stud.. He won on debut at Moonee Valley in June 2008 but didn’t train on in Melbourne.

Hampden (Savabeel) strolled home at his first start for trainer Darryl Hansen at the Sunshine Coast.  He jumped to the front from an inside barrier and then streeted his rivals by more than seven lengths.

The gelding was last home at his only start at Geelong in December and was then sold for $36,000 at the Golden Coast earlier this year.  “I knew he had ability after trialling earlier this month,” Hansen said.  “But to see him win like that is great.”

Hampden had originally failed to reach a $50,000 reserve when offered by Graeme Rogerson’s Dormello Stud at the 2009 NZ Bloodstock 2YO HIT Sale.

The Hudson Conway team has 35 top prospects to go under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale on June 8.  Among the draft are lightly raced gallopers by the likes of Zabeel, Galileo, Encosta de Lago, Selkirk, Reset, Danehill Dancer and Redoute’s Choice.  The entries also include proven city winners Martial Law, Resetable, Rundle, Tintern and Upon.

Other quality drafts will be presented by the Heinrich Racing Stables, Patinack Farm and Darley.
