Mana Park received a boost for the upcoming NZ Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale when Anabaa’s Legacy thrashed her rivals in the Lamby’s Restaurant Handicap (1203m) at Geelong on Wednesday.
Anabaa’s Legacy (3f Anabaa – Sea Song by Fasliyev) was coming off an all-way-way Bairnsdale maiden victory and similar tactics sent her careering away to a four length win on the Geelong Cup card.
Anabaa’s Legacy is trained by Dean Binaisse and she was a $100,000 buy out of the Mana Park draft at the 2009 NZ Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale. Binaisse is looking for a good galloper after losing his promising galloper Carnero two years ago. The Carnegie colt was winter favourite for the G1 Victoria Derby in 2008 but broke down in the classic won by Rebel Raider.
The Mornington based filly is by deceased Widden Stud shuttler Anabaa. He sired G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Anacheeva and he can post another posthumous G1 when Goldikova goes for a hat-trick of Breeders’ Cup Mile victories next month.
Anabaa’s Legacy is from a half-sister to G1 winner Ball Park and the dam of G2 winner Danabaa.
Mana Park owners George and Maryanne Simon have catalogued 20 two year-olds for this year’s Ready to Run Sale. George is best known on this side of the Tasman as New Zealand’s premier race caller although his profile as a vendor has risen year by year since his first Ready to Run draft in 2005.
Among Mana Park’s consignment this year are the Golan half-brother to G1 winner Rockdale (Lot 360) and a Fast n Famous colt out of a half-sister to G1 winner Allez Wonder (Lot 318).
