Winning treble for Congrats

Vinery Stud resident Congrats is siring winner after winner in North America.  They kept flowing in the first four months of the year and he’s maintained that momentum in May.

A winning treble last Friday took the total to 35 wins for 2012.

Perfect Step (3f Congrats – Romance Dance by Vision and Verse) opened her account over 1600m in Chicago on Friday.  She was resuming from a three months spell at Arlington Park for trainer Christine Janks and owner-breeder Carson Springs Farm.

Congrats Criminal (3g Congrats – Arrested Lady by Thunder Gulch) was also racing for just the second time this year when he broke through over 1200m at Calder in Florida.  Bred by AbraCadabra Farms, he changed hands for $55,000 at the 2011 Ocala April 2YO Sale.

Wild Penny (4f Congrats – Pondside by Forestry) completed Friday’s treble with a victory over 1600m at Prairie Meadows.  She is trained by Ray Tracy Jr for M&H Stables and has now won three races and been stakes placed in the LR Ocala Sprint.

Congrats (A.P Indy) sired 22 juvenile winners in his first crop and that ensured he was a resounding winner of the 2010 USA Champion freshman title.

His oldest are only spring four year-olds and his record now reads 94 winners of 208 races at a phenomenal 67% strike-rate.  Among them are 20 black-type performers headed by Group 1 winners Turbulent Descent and Wickedly Perfect.

Vinery’s Adam White reports Congrats served a full book of quality mares at Vinery’s Hunter Valley base last season and is line for another busy spring in 2012.  “Given Congrats had already proven himself as a Champion first-season sire in the USA, it takes out the guesswork that is inherent in first season sires,” White said.

“Australian owners and trainers won’t have to be constantly introduced to Congrats.  They know his resume and what to expect so it’s a great position for breeders to be in.

“Breeders can go to a young, proven stallion with confidence and at an affordable price as his service fee hasn’t changed despite making so many inroads.”

Congrats (USA) returns to Vinery for a $22,000 (inc gst) service fee with a transferable Free Return.
