Queensland based sire Ukok Warrior struck twice in Singapore on Friday evening.  Both his winners – Santa Anita (R1) and Tattoo (R5) – were bred by Alma Vale Stud owner Ken Turner and both were ridden by Vlad Duric.

Santa Anita (4g Ukok Warrior – Bella Odesa by Brocco) won a Kranji Maiden (1200m) by a half-length after placings at his previous two starts.  His dam Bella Odesa is a half-sister to Flemington stakes winner and one-time Queensland based sire Danasuria (Danehill).

Bella Odesa’s first foal Tizzy Lizzy (Catcher in the Rye) was an Ipswich winner for Turner in February.  The mare also has a 2yo filly named Little Audrey (Ukok Warrior) and a yearling filly by the same sire.

Tattoo (4g Ukok Warrior – Mrs Hogan by Canadian Silver) won an Initiation Plate earlier this year and doubled up with a narrow victory in a Class 1 (1200m) on Friday night.  

Tattoo is trained by Brian Dean and he also owns half of the horse with Hydrocarbon Stable.  “Getting out to 1400m and 1600m is probably more his go,” Dean said.  “I’m delighted with his run over the shorter trip.”

His dam Mrs Hogan won at the Sunshine Coast and she is a half-sister to the dam of Listed SCTC Glasshouse Hcp winner Lucky Luna (Springsteen).

Ukok Warrior covers Mrs Hogan every year.  She has a 3yo unraced gelding named Mr Hogan plus a 2yo filly and a yearling filly.

Ukok Warrior is by Danehill and his dam Peruzzi (Zabeel) was a G2 winner at Randwick.  She is a grand-daughter of breed-shaping mare Eight Carat.   

Robbie Laing trained Ukok Warrior for two wins at the Victorian provincials.  He was bred and raced by Neville and Jan Donohue and they retired him to Almavale in 2006.  

Turner stands him at the Darling Downs property for a $3,300 service fee.
