Landmark 400 for Medaglia d’Oro

Elusive Pearl enabled her sire Medaglia d’Oro to reach two separate milestone in the LR Riskaverse Stakes (1600m) at Saratoga on Friday.

Elusive Pearl (3f Medaglia d’Oro – Brazen Bride by Miswaki) seized control and opened up in the straight for conditioner Michael Trombetta and owner Robert Goldsmith.  The bay filly owns a 6: 3-0-1 career card with over $102,000 in prizemoney.

Medaglia d’Oro is in the fast lane with his first crop only summer five year-olds.  He has now sired the winners of 50 stakes races in the USA and his world-wide wins tally is exactly 400.

He has also sired the winners of another 8 stakes races in Canada, France, Great Britain and Zimbabwe.  Overall, his record is 159 winners of 400 races at 59% strike-rate.

Darley shuttles Medaglia d’Oro from Kentucky to its Kelvinside base for a $77,000 (inc gst) service fee.

He will cover So You Think’s dam Triassic this spring along with G1 winners Jessicabeel, Miss Margaret, Miss Victory, Regal Cheer, Sleek Chassis as well as the dams of G1 winners Roman Emperor, Star Witness, Skilled and No Wine No Song.

Medaglia d’Oro has sired seven Group 1 winners including USA Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and this year’s Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty.

Rachel Alexander blitzed the Kentucky Oaks by 20 lengths as part of a phenomenal winning streak in 2009.  Shortly after the classic, Sheikh Mohammed purchased Medaglia d’Oro from Stonewall Farm.
