Yarradale Stud sire De Troy has come up trumps with promising Perth sprinter Ima Citinpretty.  

The Shane Edwards trained mare will attempt to make it back-to-back wins in the Racingjobs Hcp (1000m) at Belmont this Saturday.

Ima Citinpretty (4m De Troy – Citinpretty by Citidancer) scored an explosive four length victory at Belmont last Wednesday.  She clocked 57.84s for 1000 metres in the David Evans Rockingham Hcp.

Her only other win had been in a York maiden last October, however, Edwards believes she can keep progressing this season.  “She appreciated the drop in grade last week and didn’t have to do a lot of work to lead,” Edwards explained.  “She’s looks a specialist 1000 metre sprinter and I will keep her in that range for the time being.”

Ima Citinpretty is raced by Clint and Christie Shore in partnership with Yarradale owner Ron Sayers.  Her dam Citinpretty is a direct descendant of Jungle Mist (Jungle Boy).  The “Grey Gazelle” was a G2 winner of the WATC Winterbottom Stakes and Champion Fillies.

Her younger half-sister Sheza Citinpretty (Heritage) is also trained by Edwards for the Shore family and Sayers.  She will debut shortly after trialling at Belmont on Monday.

Citinpretty has a new-season 2yo filly by Medal of Honor and a yearling filly by Zentsov Street.

De Troy (Arg) is a son of Southern Halo and the sireline is a proven winner in Australia through Vinery champion More Than Ready.  The Halo sireline had already forged a flourishing reputation in Western Australia in the 1990s through Don’t Say Halo and Ron Bon.

De Troy won six races up to 1300m in Argentina topped by a Listed event in Buenos Aires.  He was also runner-up in the G1 San Isidro G.P. Estrellas Junior Sprint before transferring the USA where he won another three sprints.  

Yarradale will stand De Troy for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee this year.
