Zabeel wins Centaine Award

Champion sire Zabeel has been announced as the winner of the Centaine Award for the 2009-10 season.  Restricted to New Zealand conceived progeny and based on earnings world-wide, Zabeel topped NZ$10.16 million to defeat last year’s winner O’Reilly by just NZ$76,000.

“Zabeel’s shareholders and I are delighted that his name will be on The Centaine Award,” of Cambridge Stud’s Sir Patrick Hogan told NZTM.  “He does not have a lot of time left and he deserves it through the sheer fact that he has been distinguished on so many other awards in Australia and New Zealand.”

Zabeel (Sir Tristram) has sired 41 Group 1 winners worldwide and has won the Dewar Award (Australian & NZ earnings) a record 14 times.  He is available to approved mares for a NZ$100,000 service fee in 2010.
